Atlanta, GA – Wrong-Way Accident on I-75 Leads to Injuries
Atlanta, GA (January 29, 2022) – Atlanta Police confirmed that a wrong-way accident involving a DUI driver occurred on Saturday morning, January 29, in Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened at 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 around the area of Peachtree Street. A driver was headed the wrong way, going northbound in the southbound lane of traffic on the highway. They suddenly caused a collision with three different vehicles. The vehicles involved sustained various damages as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other Atlanta responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several parties in the vehicles that crashed were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. All of the parties are expected to be okay.
The driver who caused the accident was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and other offenses. The roadway was blocked in southbound lanes of traffic until police were able to fully clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
